Here's the short story...

My name is Gillian Robidas. I'm 20 years old, and live in my small New Hampshire hometown. I was homeschooled k-12, and spent most of my school life pursuing all things 4-H. Today, I'm a special-ed para at a local high school, a job I'm new to but already love. On nights and weekends I figure skate, a sport I've enjoyed since age 3 and come to love and really commit to as an adult. I compete with Act 1 of Boston, The Skating Club of Boston's senior theater on ice team, as well as in Showcase as an individual. I'm a USFSA Gold Medalist, and am working towards being a Freestyle Gold Medalist.

I started this blog in June of 2012, right after finishing my freshman year of high school. I've blogged consistently since the start, with some years holding four posts a week, and others one post every four months. Over the past 4.5 years, I've filled this blog with goal lists, celebrations, recaps, and complaints. There have been dreams achieved, and certainly dreams failed. But regardless of outcomes or photo quality, this blog has been a place for me to reflect. To grow up. Processing life in this very public way forces me to inwardly process it first--a habit that has proved very helpful to me.

I'm a true INFJ: I have high highs, and low lows. They usually happen in the space of an hour. I am stubborn and hard working to a fault, but have the tendency to get burnt out rather easily. My inner world is intense and flourishing, and sometimes I get frustrated when reality doesn't match up. I love my church, my family, my books, and my purse. I could use a giant, neon, daily reminder that it's okay to be less than perfect at skating, emailing, and basic human functioning.

For 2017, my plan is to post here twice a month. I'm looking forward to sharing reflections about life as I enter my 20's, as well as some personal projects I'm working on (mostly skating!). Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this virtual scrapbook/resume/therapy transcript of mine. If something connects to you, drop me a line!

Happy day! xoxo

  2. Gillian! I don't know how I stumbled upon your blog, but it is very insightful and interesting. I hope you are doing well and hope to see you at some 4-H event down the road.

    Your Kentucky friend,

    1. Hi! I can honestly say you were the last person I was expecting when I saw a new comment. :) I'm so glad you like the blog! Yes, hopefully somehow we'll chance to see each other again. Great to hear from you!
